 Bonnie Brooks

Bonnie Brooks first began showing her paintings in Kingston while attaining her Fine Arts Degree at the University of Guelph. Her Works have been exhibited at many local venues including the former Brock Street Gallery and Agnes Etherington Rental Gallery. She is currently represented by Kingston’s Gallery Raymond, Mad Dog Gallery - Picton and Gallery Perth - Perth.

While developing her own style Bonnie has been an art store manager, an art store sales representative and an art instructor and feels these practical experiences have helped shape her work.

Since 1999, Bonnie has been a member of the “Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour”. Her paintings have been in a variety of juried watercolour competitions throughout Canada and abroad with one of her paintings being selected for H M the Queen for addition to the Royal Collection of Drawings and Water Colours, Windsor Castle 2001. An invitation to tea in London England at Canada House with honorary member Prince Charles was a highlight of this selection.

Since 2008 Bonnie has been exploring techniques in mixed media. Mixed media allows the freedom and challenge of incorporating several techniques in one piece of artwork. Using fabric, paper and metal with acrylic, pencil, pastel and watercolour, she works on subject matter of aged objects. In their work worn, scarred and various stages of decay, they possess an intrinsic grace and beauty.

Bonnie continues to enjoy the challenges that new mediums and topics provide, believing that the best painting remains to be done.
